Texas native Matthew McConaughey is an actor, writer, philanthropist, husband and father of three. He has won an Academy Award for Best Actor, appeared in over 40 feature films that have grossed over $1 billion dollars, and his just keep livin Foundation presently serves 37 schools in 11 states. McConaughey also serves as creative director for Wild Turkey, has co-created his own bourbon, “Longbranch,” and serves as minister of culture/MOC for the University of Texas Athletic Department and Austin FC soccer club.

About Ms. Valentine

Kathy Valentine has been a working musician and songwriter for over 40 years, starting her first band in her hometown of Austin and making a name for herself in the iconic band the Go-Go’s after moving to Los Angeles. The Go-Go’s are considered the most successful all-female band of all time and made music history for writing and performing the first and only album by an all-female band to top the charts. Kathy wrote or co-wrote some of the band's most renowned tunes, including the hits "Vacation" and “Head Over Heels.”

Kathy’s is also an actress, speaker, mentor and a first time author with her soon-to-be released autobiography, All I Ever Wanted: A Rockn’Roll Memoir (University of Texas Press, March 2020).

Meanwhile, the Go-Go’s have continued to build upon their legacy with a feature length documentary that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. The Go-Go’s will tour the U.S in summer 2020. The band also became Broadway composers when the musical “Head Over Heels” debuted on Broadway in 2018. It is currently in production at hundreds of companies throughout the U.S.

Kathy’s favorite role is as mom to her teenage daughter. They both reside in Austin. Kathy still shows up for gigs with her guitar as a solo performer and in the Austin-based, all-female rock band The Bluebonnets.

University of Texas Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte is a proven, well-regarded and nationally recognized athletics administrator who has a long history of leading highly successful athletic departments. In his second year at UT and 14th year as an athletics director overall, Del Conte has strong ties to the Lone Star State, having spent a dozen years at TCU and Rice before taking over leadership of Texas Athletics on December 9, 2017. His 28 years of experience as a collegiate administrator are wide-ranging and far-reaching with previous stops at Arizona, Washington State and Cal Poly.
