Dane Smith is a BOC certified and state licensed Athletic Trainer. He came to Trinity in 2018 as Trinity’s first full-time athletic trainer. Prior to working at Trinity he worked in Utah with Intermountain Healthcare's Sports Medicine and Concussion clinics. Dane graduated from Brigham Young University in 2015 with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. He worked with BYU football's training staff as well as many of the dance and theater programs. After moving to Austin in 2017, he continued to pursue more in sports medicine. In addition to Trinity, he has provided coverage to many local rugby clubs, NBA referees, youth ultimate frisbee and many other organizations.
Dane was born and raised in Orem, Utah. He grew up trying many sports and played competitive basketball, tennis and lacrosse in junior high and high school. He was a team captain for the cross country and track & field teams where he excelled in the long distance events and pole vault. At a young age growing up in Utah, he developed a love for the mountains. He found excitement in many of the outdoor sports and activities. You will still find Dane outdoors today bird watching and he frequents the mountains often to go hiking, camping, skiing, climbing and mountain biking.
