Student-Athletes Honored at Annual Athletics Awards Ceremony
We celebrated our student-athletes Tuesday night at our annual Athletics Awards ceremony, with the year’s top awards going to 8th graders Elizabeth E., Will G., and Reid C. We had more than 65 athletics teams this school year with 96% of middle schoolers participating — that's incredible participation!
The 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩-𝘼𝙩𝙝𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙔𝙚𝙖𝙧 award went to Elizabeth E. and Will G. This award honors the female and male 8th-grade athletes who exhibit qualities of leadership, skill, work ethic, attitude, and team spirit. Each is recognized as one of the best players on their team in their number-one sports while contributing to the team’s success in other sports.
Redi C. received the 𝙎𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙎𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩 award, which honors a student-athlete for scholastic achievement, competitive spirit, sportsmanship, cooperation, and unselfish devotion to the athletics program — one who has brought honor and distinction to themselves, their coaches and their school. This award may also recognize an individual who has overcome adversity or gone above and beyond their peers. Despite being sidelined by an injury during the spring season, Reid never wavered in his support of his teammates.
Our keynote speaker was Kate Kadyan, class of 2018 and that year’s Student-Athlete of the Year. Kate excelled in track and field at Trinity and also participated in basketball and cross country. Kate still holds the Trinity Track record in the 100m hurdles and was on the relay team that set the record in the 4x400 m relay. Kate is graduating this spring from St. Stephen’s, where she continues to be a star athlete, and will attend Harvard in the fall.
